Indians drop doubleheader in Miles City

MILES CITY, Mont. Miles Community College swept the MCC baseball team in a doubleheader Friday winning 11-6 and 5-4.
The two teams will continue their six -game series with a pair of games Saturday and Sunday. MCC falls to 13-29.
GAME 1: Miles CC 11, McCook CC 6 In the first game the Pioneers came out with six runs in the first inning keyed by homeruns from the three of the first four hitters including back-to-back round trippers from first two hitters of the inning, Steven Reinig and Kolton Bleggi and a two-run shot from Nate Bloxham and later in the inning a two-run single. Miles came back with three more in the second to lead 9-2.
MCC scored in the first on a triple from Jake Sanford (Dartmouth Nova Scotia) and a single by Michael Sookdeo (Brampton, Ontario). The Indians added a run in the second on a walk, a Tanner Zeggil (Staggner, Ontario) single, catcher's interference and a balk.
Trailing 10-2 in the fourth, the Tribe was able to push across four runs. Jason Hill (Surrey, British Columbia) started the rally with a one-out single and scored on a Hunter Rynders (Centennial, Colo) triple. Sanford followed with a two-run home run. Sookdeo singled and went to third on an outfield error and scored on a groundout.
MCC had 10 hits in the game with four from Sanford, two from Sookdeo, and hits from Hill, Rynders, Zeggil, Beau Hawley (Greeley, Colo.) and Dalton Bartling (Ashland, Neb).
Sophomore Ryan Marstiller (Centennial, Colo.) started on the mound and was tagged with the loss allowing 10 hits and six earned runs in his two innings of work. He fanned three. Braydon Peif (Greeley, Colo.) worked one inning and gave up one run on two hits and Connor Williams (Milton, Ontario) finished the game pitching the last three innings allowing one run on two hits. He struck out three.
GAME 2: Miles CC 11, McCook CC 6
Miles City starter Jonathan Ringer handcuffed the MCC bats for five innings, and the Pioneers came up with a three-run third and a two run fifth enough to support Ringer's pitching.
MCC rallied from a 5-0 deficit and got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. Hunter Rynders drew a one-out walk and scored on a Jake Sanford double to make it 5-1. Sanford later scored on a groundout.
In the top of the seventh, Beau Hawley drew a one-out walk and Tanner Zeggil followed with a two-run homerun.
Freshman starting pitcher Connor McGonigal (Omaha Burke) threw five innings for MCC allowing two earned runs, walking five, allowing five hits and striking out three. Casey Quagliano (Colby, Kan.) pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
The Indians were held to four hits: two from Zeggil, the Sanford double and a single by Jason Hill.
