Indians drop doubleheader in Miles City

MILES CITY, Mont. Miles Community College swept the MCC baseball team for the second day in a row taking Saturday's doubleheader 8-1 and 6-2. The two teams cap their six -game series with a pair of Sunday games.
The Indians fall to 13-31 on the season.
GAME 1: Miles CC 8, McCook CC 1: The Pioneers broke a scoreless tie with five unearned runs in the third inning to open the day then added a run in the fifth frame and two in the sixth. The Indians were guilty of three errors in the game.
Freshman Jason Lombardelli (Windsor, Colo.) went 5.2 innings, allowed five hits and two earned runs to go along with five walks and five strikeouts. Freshman Micah Dorsey (Greeley, Colo.) pitched the final one-third of an inning.
The only Indian run came in the sixth inning on singles by Jake Sanford (Dartmouth Nova Scotia), Michale Sookdeo (Brampton, Ontario) and Chris Bellemare (Grande-Carriere, Quebec).
MCC was held to eight singles in the game with two each from Sanford and Sookdeo as well as Bellemare, Hunter Rynders (Centennial, Colo.) Mathew Tremblay (Saint Charles, Quebec), and Beau Hawley, (Greeley, Colo.)
GAME 2: Miles CC 6, McCook CC 2: The Pioneers made it four wins in a row this weekend over the Indians breaking open a 2-2 game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Indians scored in the first and fourth innings. Jason Hill (Surrey, British Columbia) singled to lead off the game. Hunter Rynders bunted him to second and Hill scored on a Michael Sookdeo single. In the fourth inning, Dalton Bartling (Ashland, Neb.) stroked a one-out double, advanced to third on a single from Mathew Tremblay, and scored on a two-out single from Tanner Zeggil (Stagner, Ontario).
Sophomore Kaden Sitzman (McCook) started on the mound for the Indians and helped keep the game tied until the final frame. With two outs and one on in the sixth, Miles City got consecutive singles to take the lead 3-2 then a walk brought on Tyler Cox (Mississauga, Ontario) who was greeted by back-to-back singles as the Pioneers stretched the lead to four runs. Sitzman struck out five, walked six and gave up eight hits in his 5.2 innings of work.
The Indians had seven hits in the game. Bartling had the only extra-base hits with a pair of doubles. Hill had a pair of singles with the other hits coming form Sookdeo, Tremblay and Zeggil.
