NJC drops Indians 15-1 Friday

NJC Plainsmen trounce Indians

The Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen put up runs in five of the seven innings and rolled to a 15-1 over McCook Community College Friday at the Jaycees Sports Complex.
NJC scored three runs in the first, two in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and put the game away with a six-run seventh.
MCC scored its only run of the day in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Julio Seperich (Las Vegas, Nevada) reached second base on a two-base outfield error to lead off the seventh and came home on a Jake Sanford (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) single. The only other MCC hit of the game came on a second-inning single from Michael Sookdeo (Brampton, Ontario).
Gunner Pickett twirled the complete-game win for NJC allowing two hits, one unearned run, no walks and he struck out eight Indians.
Sophomore Kaden Sitzman (McCook) took the loss for MCC giving up eight hits and eight runs over 4.2 innings. He struck out five. Freshman Spencer Ray (Greeley, Colo.) pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs, two walks and four hits. Freshman Connor Williams (Milton, Ontario) pitched the final out.
The Indians fall to 14-34 on the season with one remaining home date a Wednesday doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. against Northeast Junior College.
This weekend MCC travels to Scottsbluff for a game Saturday and two games on Sunday.
