Indians lose slugfest in Scottsbluff
SCOTTSBLUFF The McCook Community College baseball team fought back from a 10-7 deficit in the seventh inning and scored three runs to tie the game but gave up seven runs in the bottom inning and lost 17-13.Dalton Bartling (Ashland, Neb.) and Hunter Rynders (Centennial, Colo.) paced the 17-hit MCC offense. Both had four hits. Bartling stroked a two-run homer in the eighth, and doubled with three RBIs. Rynders doubled and had three singles.
Jake Sanford (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) popped a solo home run in the eighth inning and David Perez (Las Vegas, Nevada) had a three-run homer in the seventh.
Beau Hawley (Greeley, Colo.) went three-for-five with a double and two singles.
The Indians also got two-hit games from Tanner Zeggil (Staggner, Ontario) and Julio Seperich (Las Vegas, Nevada).
The Indian pitching staff gave up 16 hits and 16 earned runs.
Connor McGonigal (Omaha Burke) pitched 3.2 innings, Braydon Peif (Greeley, Colo.) went 2.1 innings, Casey Quagliano (Colby, Kan.) went one-third of an inning and Connor Williams (Milton, Ontario) pitched the final 1.2 innings of scoreless, hitless relief.
MCC falls to 14-35 on the season. The two teams play a doubleheader Sunday.
The Indians return home Wednesday for the final home game of the season -- a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Northeastern Junior College.
