McCook Community College freshman Aviv Bobrov has been named the Region IX pitcher of the week for the second time this season.
This time – for the week of April 14-20, Week 12 – he gained the region's top weekly pitching award with a five-inning no-hitter. He retired all 15 batters he faced Sunday against Trinidad State and struck out seven, but was unable to complete the game leaving the game because of an injury. MCC won the game 10-0 in six innings.
Bobrov also won the award in Week 7 (March 10-16).
For the season, the 5-11 right hander from Shekbanya, Israel, is 4-4 in 10 starts with a 6.80 ERA. In 47.2 innings, he has 55 strikeouts – fifth most among Region IX pitchers.
